Eden Capital Management, LLC ("ECM") is different from other investment advisor firms in three significant ways:
(1) our investment approach, (2) our client services approach and (3) our compensation approach.
Investment Approach: ECM builds investment and retirement portfolios for its clients with the goals of maximizing after-tax income generation and reducing portfolio volatility throughout the market cycles. One area of differentiation with ECM-managed portfolios is that we also utilize fundamental financial analysis to identify equity opportunities that include smaller market-capitalization companies, many of which are not large enough to garner the attention of larger investment advisory and brokerage firms. While these smaller companies meet all the regulatory standards of the NYSE and NASDAQ markets, they often do not receive the analyst coverage that mid-size and larger market-capitalization companies receive due to their having smaller floats and lower daily trading volumes. This presents a meaningful opportunity for ECM to identify through extensive research on its clients’ behalf these smaller companies, that are “under the radar” of larger investment firms, but that have good growth potential, strong balance sheets, growing dividends and cash flows, profit-driven management teams and unique geographic focus or products. Often these companies also have low Betas meaning their stocks trade on the merits of their own business performance as opposed to being correlated, up or down, with the overall stock market. A typical ECM-managed portfolio will have a large weighting in these smaller companies, with the goal of providing greater protection in market downturns while maintaining the income-generation features of large capitalization dividend paying equities whose underlying prices may be more subject to market volatility. ECM's Principal, Douglas T. Eden, personally visits these smaller companies and regularly speaks with their management teams in order to best assess the company's business prospects, and Mr. Eden often owns these companies' stocks as well to ensure that his and his clients' interests are aligned.
Client Services Approach: ECM's goal is to outperform the market on behalf of all of its clients over the long term. In order to build long term, successful relationships with its clients, and unlike many larger, impersonal investment firms, ECM provides 24/7 client access to Mr. Eden for any questions concerning their accounts or regarding specific investments. Additionally, upon request, ECM will provide clients with investment training relative to both equity and fixed income securities. Each client receives regular communications from Mr. Eden regarding their account performance and Mr. Eden personally monitors each of his client's holdings daily, including reviewing related news stories on specific positions.
Compensation Approach: As a boutique investment advisory firm, ECM does not maintain the large corporate overhead of other firms and is therefore able to pass these savings directly on to our clients so they can keep more of their hard-earned money.
